On 13 May 2025, the CHU de Liège hosted a significant event dedicated to fertility after pediatric cancer. The gathering brought together clinicians, researchers, healthcare partners, and participants involved in the PRINCESS study — an important milestone in reproductive health research.
Organized by Dr. Bianca David, PhD candidate at the University of Liège (ULiège), under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Piette and Prof. Anne-Simone Parent, the event was held in collaboration with GIGA Neurosciences and supported by the Foundation against Cancer.
PRINCESS (Fertility and Quality of Life After Pediatric Cancer) is a nationwide, multicenter study focused on improving reproductive care for women who have survived childhood cancer. It involves leading institutions across Belgium, including CHU de Liège, ULiège, C.U. Saint-Luc, HUDERF, BCR, BSPHO, and several hospitals and research centers.
Funded by the Foundation against Cancer, the study has received €778,005 for the 2023–2026 period.
Key goals of the study include:

By deepening our understanding of these impacts, the PRINCESS study aims to improve the quality of life for survivors and refine clinical approaches to fertility preservation.
The program included:
This event marks a shared success in advancing fertility research, made possible by the support of the Foundation against Cancer and the collaboration of medical professionals, researchers, and participants.
