What is the BSPHO Symposium?

The BSPHO Symposium is an exclusive meeting organised every two years, focusing on key topics in childhood cancer, gathering experts in the field of paediatric haemato-oncology (PHO): physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, ...

This year's topic is: Supportive Care in Paediatric Haemato-Oncology, addressing essential practices that improve quality of life for young patients, from managing side effects to providing critical psychological and social support throughout their cancer journey.

Meeting Agenda

Here's a brief overview of the program:

  • Low-germ diet: infectious risk and microbiology in immunocompromised children
  • Preventing fungal infections in pediatric stem cell transplants
  • Vascular access in paediatric hemato-oncology: practices in Belgian PHO centers
  • Febrile neutropenia: insights and consensus from the French-speaking pediatric oncology community
  • Network-focused meetings to sustain social support
  • Taste alteration post-chemotherapy: from research to patient care
  • Skin problems during cancer treatment and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

The registration for this event is mandatory and will open in October.  Accreditation points (Ethics and Economy / JACIE) are requested.

The Study Coordinator Meeting and Psychologists Meeting will take place right before the Symposium (9:30 - 12:30) at the same venue.

Why attend?

  • Networking opportunity - It's an opportunity for health professionals to meet each other and discuss issues and trends, listen to presentations, present best practices themselves and to make recommendations.
  • Engaging & informative presentations - Members from different pediatric centres present valuable insights and knowledge about the latest trends and developments in the field of pediatric oncology.
